Salt Air Is Only The Beginning...
Located on Chesapeake in eastern Virginia, normally the ocean
air is Mike Howard’s biggest problem at Virginia Air
Distributors. Because of the ever-present salt air, Virginia
Air regularly uses Bronz-Glow for the units they install on
the many government bases in the area. They also have coated
units for hotels and motels on Virginia Beach, where the average
AC unit lasts only 2-4 years.
But Virginia Air often works with customers with even more
corrosive environments. For example, they were asked to provide
30T air handlers for a chicken processing plant, also on the
eastern shore. Chlorine and other disinfectant and cleaning
chemicals, added to the general salt air environment, made
this a natural for Bronz-Glow.
They have also provided units for a nearby paper mill. Paper
mills have very corrosive environments covering the pH scale.
As distributors, Virginia Air actually sells the equipment
to the contractor doing the installation. According to Mike
Howard, however, “In 75% of the cases, Virginia Air
suggests the customer include Bronz-Glow coating. In only
25% of the units we have coated, has the contractor or owner
initiated the addition of anti-corrosive coating… even
though they are usually replacing badly deteriorated equipment
due to the corrosiveness of the operating environment.”
“If more contractors would learn about the advantage
of using Bronz-Glow, they’d have a lot fewer customer
complaints and service headaches. With Bronz-Glow, units hold
up well here on the eastern shore. It just makes sense to
protect the equipment this way.”
About dealing with Bronz-Glow, Mike adds, “Bronz-Glow
is great to work with, they have very good customer service,
a great knowledge base, good followup on quotes and they always
give me quick turnaround time. I’ve used Bronz-Glow
since 1999, and our company used them even before I came along.
I have no complaints.”
